Location - The ranch is 36 miles southeast of Sabinas, Coahuila just north of what is locally called the
pipeline. Sabinas is 71 miles southwest of Eagle Pass, Texas. Total driving time from Eagle Pass will be about 2 ½ hours. Flying time to the ranches private airstrip from the international airport located in Piedras Negras will be less than 30 minutes. The airstrip is grass, 900 meters (2952 feet) in length.
Terrain - Approximately 1/3rd of the ranch is level while the other 3/4 consists of low lying hills separated by large valleys. The average altitude is 1,500 feet asl.
Vegetation - The property is thick with all the species of brush known for producing trophy whitetails, including quajillo, blackbrush, chapote (persimmon), guayacan, junco, cat-claw, mesquite, huisache, little-leaf leadtree, brasil, and coma.
Water - The ranch has 11 large pilas ( large water tanks of 20,000 gallons or more) and 40 smaller water troughs containing 600 gallons as well as 40 small 10 gallon waterers concealed in brushy areas. There is a water source for every 200 acres. Water is pumped from 5 wells to the 11 large pilas and then distributed to the other smaller water troughs throughout the ranch. Also, there are 17 tanks in low lying areas and arroyos that are filled by rain runoff.
Management - Approximately 6,000 acres of the ranch was high fenced in the early 90's and bred does as well as trophy bucks were imported from ranches in Mexico as well as South Texas. The deer in the high fence are censused annually, culls removed, and every year a certain percentage are released onto the remaining 10,000 acres. January thru September a protein feeding program insures maximum antler growth while October thru January we feed corn using stationary corn feeders with timers as well as feeding roads with spin cast feeders attached to the bumpers.
Game - Abundant whitetail deer, blue and bobwhite quail, mourning and whitewing doves, javalina, mountain lion and black bear can all be found on the ranch.
